2 Phases of Detoxification Our body deals with 2 kinds of toxins. - Exotoxins - which come from external sources - Endotoxins which are created internally, right within our body by the various bodily functions. Phase 1 Your body sweeps up all these toxins and moves them into your detoxification organs, such as your liver, intestines, kidnesy, lungs and skin. It's as though your body has swept up the garbage and placed it all into a trash bag. This is Phase 1. The toxins are still there, but they've been collected and are ready for disposal. Phase 2 This phase of detoxification is like taking the trash out to the street for curbside pickup. This is where your organs of detoxification take over. What can you do to help your body with detoxification? 1. Put as few toxins in body as possible first. Don't poison yourself unnecessarily. There are so many toxins that we can't avoid because our air and water are just loaded with them. For example, in metropolitan areas, water tests have discovered as much as 2 dozen different medications in the water. Medications that you have not been prescribed! Bottled water is coming under fire because of the hormone disruptors that plastics contain. Every time you hop into the shower, your skin absorbs these toxic elements and then your body has to deal with them. So bottom line, don't take anymore of these toxins into your body than you have to. 2. You might also use sulphates (as discussed yesterday on the topic of osteoarthritis) and Vitamin B-12 to deal with toxins. For example, to detoxify lead your body requires Vit B-12 in a process called methylation which sends the lead out out through your kidneys or intestines. Lead's serious stuff. It blocks the enzymes that allow your heart to beat, your lungs to clean the blood of carbon dioxide, your brain to function, your eyes to see, and your fingers to feel. Enzymes keep us young. If we lose our enzymes we start early aging. Lead blocks enzymes from doing their job. Remember when you used to be able to buy leaded gasoline? And then we saw it accumulating in our environment and the effect it was having on our children. They developed impulsivity disorders, oppositional defiance and ADD etc., so in 1980 leaded gasoline was banned. That's three decades ago. I didn't get the exact figure of how much lead was estimated to be in our environment, but 30 years later, they have only been able to reduce that level by 2%. In 10 years, we were able to pollute the environment so drastically that in 30 years we could only reduce it by 2%. So if you think you're safe because you live out in the country (which is kind of what I was doing, lol), think again. Lead is everywhere! We are all still paying for that mistake and our body is desperately trying to detoxify itself from lead poisoning every day. Dr. Minshew said in his personal opinion, this lead poisoning is one of the reasons they are seeing a Vitamin B-12 deficiency even in children today. B-12 is not just a deficiency in the middle-aged anymore. Childrens' bodies just can't keep up with the detoxification process without an additional intake of B-12. We get lead and other heavy metal toxins from the environment. We simply can't get away from it. So facilitate the CYP450 process by eating well, sleeping well, some daily play time, practicing good emotional habits such as forgiveness and take your Vit B-12.
